So waaaaaay out of my comfort zone

Morning all! Well I have a card request today and I'm like some others I read about, not so keen on commissions lol! I like to create and then have people purchase rather than have requests made as I'm always worried they won't like what I have created! I was asked to make a funny card errrr FUNNY?! I do pretty and vintage, cute and soft but funny and funky? I think not!!! The lady in question wanted a 30th birthday card for a friend something to remind her she was getting old (lol old at 30 I wish!!) so I went hunting down for an image knowing there were some fab tongue in cheek "oldies" images over at the Stitchy bear store and produced this....

I'm still unsure as this is so not me! No lace, distress ink, doilies or butterflies! I couldn't help but whack a load of flowers on though! I think I could have done this better but the request just threw me! If she had asked for a sassy sexy 30 I would have popped on down to Kenny K and everything would have been fine! My papers are cheery arte from my stash as is my funky ribbon, stick pins and gems. My sentiments are computer created and my flowers are wild orchids.

I have coloured my image with prisma pencils (still waiting for my new set to arrive from the states lol!) and double matted on black and blue cardstock.

I really do hope that the lady who requested this and her recipient like it! I made a wedding card for this lady over a year ago and my cards have improved since then but not along this theme lol!
I would like to enter this into The crazy challenge spots and stripes, Fab and funky its so funny, Freshly brewed something new (this is a new theme for me!), Stamp something anything goes, Crafty Anns make yourself uncomfortable (lol) and OSAAT use a digi.
Thanks for coming by, please let me know what you think, I don't think I am converted to this style just yet there are so many that do this better than me! Just wait until Tues & Weds next wk when my DT cards are so more up my street lol!
Big hugs

Hi Rebekah, aren't we all just our own worst critics? Especially when we are asked to make something we don't normaly do! I wimped out on a card for a friends' husband who was turning 40 - just couldn't come up with anything (certainly after the only inspiration I was given was that he used to have a mohecian haircut!). You however have made a beautiful card - I love the image and the flowers are great! Sarah
